Few weeks ago on 16th sup 2015 I attended a State Level Media Workshop of ABVP Maharashtra, at MMCC, Pune. I'm not going to discuss the sessions & the bullet points we learned about Media but the experience I had. As soon as it started I realised that how ignorant I was about nature and scope of Media. Student activists around the state were gathered and the first person to take rostrum was Veteran Journalist Shri.Bhau Torsekar.
As soon as he took to the microphone auditorium was on edge of their seats with pointy ears. He spoke slowly and assuring about the Reality behind news, How a biased Perception or a Preformed Mind can affect reporting of a news. In his words," It happens very often that the actual events that took place and the News that's published differ from each other. News is made after investigating the Event in question but very often the misinformation leads to the misinterpretation of event and the News resulting from it hammered again and again through media creates false advertising of actual events that took place, as a student activists it’s your duty to shed light on these media mishaps". He further added that," To understand media and to deal with it as a Student activist you should be a avid reader and protest against use of media for political purposes". As he walked away from microphone, auditorium was overwhelmed by the precise insights he'd given on media and bursts into applause.
